Village Vets is looking for veterinary assistance, previous experience is recommended but not required. Patient care, ability to collaborate with the team, and kindly communicate with owners when needed are of utmost importance. Computer skills are required but training will be provided for our medical records system and integrated applications. Applicants should be competent in animal handling, have some interest or background in animal behavior/ training, be able to get a temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate, and must be willing to help with feeding, walking, and cleaning of patients and cages. Applicants must be dependable, able to multitask as well as treat clients and patients with kindness and respect. There will be a component of the job that will focus on humane euthanasia (both in clinic and at home) so applicants must be compassionate and be able to handle sensitive situations and conversations. A large portion of the job will be to greet owners and take basic history as well as triage emergencies, so a positive attitude and being open-minded is crucial. Day to day operations (cleaning exam rooms, ensuring the hospital is in a tidy state, assisting in surgery prep, and instrument cleaning) are also a responsibility.

Key Points:
· Obtain patient histories, discuss wellness care and basic vaccinations, and be able to answer client questions or take a detailed message for the LVT or Doctor to call back.
· Restrain animals safely, compassionately, and effectively when needed. Assist veterinarians and LVT during appointments, in patient treatments and pre and post surgery.
· Maintain patient records and use the electronic medical records system while following the procedures and protocols put in place. Follow DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
· Willing to work closely, kindly, and objectively with all staff members in order to create a culture that is conducive to collaboration, teamwork and patient care.
· Assist in keeping the exam rooms, kennels, clinic, and treatment areas clean and tidy.
· Answer phones promptly, make appointments as needed, check in and check out patients, and return calls/ emails when asked.

Requirements:
- Able to handle the physical requirements of veterinary medicine (bending down, picking up at least 40 lbs, etc).
