Village Vets is looking for a LVT, with at least 1 year of working experience, who is able to be autonomous and run the day-to-day operations of the hospitalized and surgery patients. Patient care, ability to collaborate with the team and kindly communicate with owners when needed are of utmost importance. Computer skills are required but training will be provided for our medical records system and integrated applications. Applicants should be competent in IV catheter placement, fluid and medication administration, patient monitoring (TPR and anesthesia monitoring), surgical preparation of patients, radiology, blood draws, able to run in house bloodwork machines, and must be willing to help with feeding, walking, and cleaning of patients and cages when needed. Applicants must be dependable, able to multitask, as well as treat clients and patients with kindness and respect. As the LVT of the clinic, an ability to respond calmly, quickly, and consciously during a medical emergency is important. There will be a component of the job that will focus on humane euthanasia (both in clinic and at home) so applicants must be compassionate and be able to handle sensitive situations and conversations.

Key Points:
- · Obtain patient histories, give patient updates, discuss pre surgical instructions and post- op discharges, discuss medication administration at home, discuss wellness care and basic vaccinations, and make and review estimates when needed.
- · Restrain animals safely, compassionately, and effectively when needed.
- · Assist veterinarians in medical, surgical, and dental procedures (to include but not limited to IVC placement, IV fluid administration, IV injections, intubation, anesthesia monitoring) as well as administer vaccinations, take radiographs, wound care, and blood draws.
- · Maintain patient records and use the electronic medical records system while following the procedures and protocols put in place. Follow DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
- · Assist in dispensing medications and monitoring inventory.
- · Willing to work closely, kindly and objectively with all staff members in order to create a culture that is conducive to collaboration, teamwork, and patient care.
